Moonstruck

I was a simple, ordinary man
Worked for the twenty I held in my hand
People go their way and I go mine
So long as no one bothered me I felt all was fine
But looking back there was a constant sense of ill ease
Things changed one night when I took a walk home through the trees

I was a good man or so I believed
Did all that was asked of me, believed what I'd read
Most of what they told me, well it made me feel blue
Why would they say that if it wasn't true?
Stopped with a start as a whispering voice rode the breeze
I turned right round but there weren't nobody there but me

The blood rushed round my brain 'til I thought it would pop
Caught in the spotlight of her radiant glow
Cleansing my senses of all I did know
That's how she found me as she raised me up with her kiss
Trading illusions for my rightful heritage of bliss
