Still Summer

Why does it always seem, whenever turning September
However promising, harvest is a wistful ending
Labor Day knows gentle sadness with cooler weather
Cornfields and ethos are dry

But it's still summer, despite what you may think
It's still summer for a few more weeks

Remember how it felt outrageous when it all started?
Reckless and carefree, we acted completely on impulse
Do pressure and challenges come with deeper potential?
When old patterns refuse to die?

But it's still summer if you and I decide
It's still summer, it's all about a state of mind
It's still summer will we crash and burn?
It's still summer, until the season turns

It's still summer, swirling down the drain
It's still summer, let it wax and wane
Still summer, there's a chance to choose
Still summer, and if in the end we lose
Are you ready for the fall?
