Rumble and the Roar

"Be good to yourself."
That's what he said before he had his stroke.
No matter what you're thinking,
God's been known to play impractical jokes.

I wandered until I wondered where I was.
The thunder seemed calmer back at home,
But the lighting is getting closer to the shore.

I used to fear it,
the rumble and the roar
Now I think that
I've never loved it more.

If only I could choose
Which moments would never get old.
When your pain feels like it broke,
You can breathe, and don't fear anymore.

I loved you until our weather made us worn.
When my eyes close, you ask me to come home.
It's frightening to feel the power of a storm.

I used to fear it,
the rumble and the roar.
Now I think that
I've never loved it more.
