Ticking Like It Should

I won't sleep until I know the money's safe at home.
Until my money's made it home, I won't sleep.
Dominoes cascaded in a spiral towards my feet.
The plan is incomplete, but that's on me.

When you run dear, I won't be near.
I've done dumb things, but all with zeal.
Simple breathing, I know the drill.
Caught me thinking that I'd rather feel.

Tires wrapped in chains to get friction with the road.
Frozen packed down snow sticks to the street.
Settled on a trend, now my days move by so slow.
Ditching what I know is what I need.

When you run dear, I won't be near.
I've done dumb things, but all with zeal.
Simple breathing, I know the drill.
Caught me thinking that I'd rather feel.

Broken bones from sticks and stones and words that cut too deep.
All biting without teeth, but there's a theme.
Ticking like it should, but the second hand is slow.
You're caught up in the past, not here with me.

When you run dear, I won't be near.
I've done dumb things, but all with zeal.
Simple breathing, I know the drill.
Caught me thinking that I'd rather feel.
