11 p.m. for 24 Minutes

You sent me a poem
That reminded you of home
So unlikely for you to do
You said you were feeling lonesome
Just the other day I called
You were at work,
Said you would but didn't call back
I had a feeling that you couldn't

When you visited last spring
It somehow felt the same
I'm dreading the day that our time stops blooming
With nostalgic appeal that we had started with
Oh you would push me, I would push back
But never pushed away this far
Now you're next to me in thoughts
And it's no one's fault
The world forces us to grow up

Making it unpredictable
How things will feel years from now
Cause when we meet the moments are fleeting
With each and every glance
I think how there's a beauty when I see you change
And there's a beauty in if you didn't

And the latter is what's hung on my wall
Feels historical
When I saw you plenty more
Passing by in high school halls
But I should end this song
Cause you called me up last night
And it felt alright
