One Bad Apple

I had one bad apple
But the rest all looked just fine
So I thought I'd make my friends an all-American apple pie
But when I started slicing, peeling
Getting right down to the core
Well, I came to find that one bad apple tainted many more
So I thought to myself
"Do I need to think of something new?
Cuz if I make this classic apple pie
It might kill me and you"
So I tried to break it to my guests
But they just ignored all my protests
And said reform the recipe
Tradition's safer than unrest

So welcome to the party
Let me go and get my knife
Don't look too close at what hides inside when I cut you a slice (Of that)

Fresh-baked apple pie
The all-American Dream
Eat up and pay no mind
To all those cries and screams
The key ingredient ain't love
It's hate and pigs and greed
But this fresh-baked apple pie is so good
That you can barely breathe

So good you can barely breathe

Well that first pie tasted terrible,
But they all did ask for more
But said don't use those rotten apples
That they're peddling at the store
So I went outside and found
The biggest tree perched on a hill
And picked a brand new peck so fresh
And so much less inclined to kill
But I took one bite and quickly found
It was rotten through and through,
And that just confirmed that all my worst suspicions must be true:
The tree's part of a system
With a poisoned water source
And now my apples are all fertilized with brute excessive force

And the ones who spread the poison
Wanna say let them eat pie
But before you take a bite
Try questioning what went inside (Of that)

Fresh-baked apple pie
The all-American Dream
Eat up and pay no mind
To all those cries and screams
The key ingredient ain't love
It's hate and pigs and greed
But this fresh-baked apple pie is so good
That you can barely breathe

So good you can barely breathe

I had one bad apple
But the rest all looked just fine
So I thought I'd make my friends an all-American apple pie
But when I started slicing, peeling
Getting right down to the core
Well, I came to find that one bad apple tainted, tainted many more
