Fear Winds

The fear winds are coming
The trees shout from Crown Hill
In cadence with comings
And goings of cars
The moon whispers lullaby
To summon the sinners
They go to the Devil In search for the cure

The mass begins quickly
The dark spirits conjured
It exits the front door
And goes searching for souls
The tables still littered
With burnt spoons and roses
The glass cracked so quickly
Pieces lay in the walls
They all come so quickly
Some leave in a hurry
To come back in sweating
And begging for more
The Devil makes deals
When the moods right for gambling
Don't you catch you a whooping
Cause you couldn't pay your dues

And the woman are looser
Than ever imagined
A crumb for a kiss
And a key for her hole
I told her last night
Just go back back home to daddy
She said daddy was the first
To give her this pain
Only seven years old
In a trailer on Mars Hill
Daddy made a choice
That he couldn't take back
Sweating out beer
And grunting and moaning
While ignoring the tears
And the cries of his child
It went on for years
Till she worked up the courage
To put a few rounds
Through his skull while he slept
Don't you judge her for nothing
She's a queen in her own mess
If you see her on 10th street
Tell her I've gone astray

A cold wind still blowing
Out whispers from Spades Park
While gun shots ring out
And drift slowly away
A man about nineteen
Lay dead on the sidewalk
He was putting his nose
In places not fit
Now his mother she's screaming
And yelling for justice
Another man dead
For reasons unknown
I walked past the crime scene
And I pondered it shortly
But quickly rose back
To the matter at hand
I've been walking for an hour
With money I made shaking
My foot steps they echo
In the alley where I go
One knock on the side door
And a name for the door man
At the sound of the lock
My heart starts to race
When the door goes ajar
You may enter if willing
But proceed with caution
If you intend not to stay
I headed with caution
The first time I entered
But even caution won't help you
From drifting away
One day I sure hope
I get square with the Devil
We're hoping for no coins
And just a tear for each eye
