Open Your Eyes

She air it out though her situation never clear
See it through a different eye
Now I get it never fair
What you do alone is never dressed for another ear
Single mama stand it up
Made it through the darkest years
Working doubles gotta keep the bread coming
Bills are cleared
Late for dinner
But she still brings it because the kids are there
All the good that she's done
Only spoken to a mirror
Writes it in her diary
With a Spliff and a couple tears
this is how she see the world
struggle every day to smile
Her make up take away the hurt
Caught up in a schedule
That she made
But it's all the curse
Maybe this is all a dream and real when we leave the earth
Self-sufficient is how she make it daily
depending only on herself damn this
S*** is crazy
But you're not alone baby tell me what to carry
Because life is shorter than we think
So for her I'm praying

He air it out
Though his situation is never clear
Boots are ripped
But he can't afford to get a newer pair
Struggles with the closet and the pain he's gotta keep it there
To open up is a lane
That his father never steered him near

Working 60 hour weeks how is he supposed to take it slow
Wants to see his kids
But 10 PM
All the lights are out
Passing cemeteries
Thinking about himself being ghost
Can never blame a man
For our heart were taught to keep it closed

And all he wanted was a family though
A wife to greet him when he home
Kids blowing up the phone
Had to let it fall
Cause the other never wanted more
Now he all alone
Thinking barrel end or tie the rope

Self-sufficient is how he makes it daily
Depending only on himself
damn this s*** is crazy
But you're not alone baby tell me what to carry
Because life is shorter than we think
So for him I'm praying
