The Clock

I've been caught up in my mind
And time slips away
And I've been fine lettin' it die
Now, I find
It's a waste to let it waste
It seems that time's meant to be killed

And I will devour all
The little seconds, now that pass, I'll make them last
Then bleed them dry and use them up
And I won't give a fuck if I should fail, if I should fall
Bleed it out, I'll give it all, I'll nail myself into the wall

The clock is laughin'
And I'm gaspin', graspin'
Can't relax
The time has come
To be undone
To beat back death
It's so much fun
The clock's run out

So here, I lie awake
Combin' through the hours
Passed the notes I've scrapped
And lookin' for my last mistake
Neurotic to the bone
These thoughts are not my own, I'm copy-pastin'
Fuck it all and I'll erase and start again

Searchin' for my voice
But all the noise corrupts my mind
It's just so hard for me to find the perfect words
The melody that works
No one would even know
No one would notice
But, I owe this to myself to make it perfect

I am goin' crazy
Won't settle for bein' lazy
I'm not writin' this for you
I don't have shit to prove to you

And all I wanna do
Is take the time to do this right
The first time
So, I'll write until I'm blue

And maybe you can hear it too
The shit that keeps me up 'til two
Makes me question why I waste my time
Pretendin' I could step in line with you

You
You
You
