Chamomile

Another season turns
I only stop to see
As rain floods out my drive
Across the city sleeping in the night

The muscles ache and twitch
The mind it bends again
The lights are harsh to me
The pain from hours spent awake and stressed

It's been a while
But I can rest
Chamomile

She curls against me now
And I prefer the cool
But I can't bring myself
To turn away and move to my own side
So I lie

She knows we're not alone
The ghost between the sheets
Of present, past, and future
But she never stops to mention it to me

She just smiles
I confess
It's been a while
Since I've been blessed
With something kind
So I rest
Chamomile
