Blood Capsules (The Jordan Lake Sessions Volume 4)
Woo
When the last of the East Coast money ran dry
And the casually-dressed bill collectors
Started casually walking on by
And the residuals well, there weren't any more residuals
And me several months behind
On the payments to certain individuals
I strolled into the lobby
Mouth full
Blood capsules
I strolled into the lobby
Mouth full
Blood capsules
I'm off the juice for seven months
I learn to like living clean
But there just isn't any money
On the independent scene
Not even if you're cutting corners
Staying in nights, eating alone
Somebody's gotta pay the gas bill
It's not gonna go away on its own
I strolled into the lobby
Mouth full
Blood capsules
I strolled into the lobby
Mouth full
Blood capsules
I'm the biggest guy in the bank line
Everybody else looks tiny
I could almost smell the fear
On the lunch-hour car salesman behind me, Mac Douglas
I know this isn't gonna work
I guess I'll see it when I see it
I can't work any other jobs
This was my last and best idea
I strolled into the lobby
Mouth full
Blood capsules
I strolled into the lobby
Mouth full
Blood capsules
Woo!
One, two, three
Cool
Thank you
So you know, you have Peter Hughs to thank for that song's existence
If you like it because I wrote it, and I said that
It's one of the ones that, there's always some where I send them
And Peter becomes sorts of like become the defender because
He knows that there's a good chance
that I might write a good song and then decide
We don't have time for it or whatever and not prioritizing it
And we were, everybody was completely out of gas in the studio
And he was like, "Can we please try to do that one?"
And I was like, "Well it's not gonna be in the album, is it?"
"But can we just try to do it?"
So we did, everybody's gone to unplug everything that I'm gonna grab
A notebook with some lyrics in it
And so if you perceive a fade or a cut here, that's what's going on
I'll meet you right back here at the chair for the solo session
Hello and welcome back to the solo segment
Uh, this is a song called Hair Match that was originally demoed by me
And Peter in Cologne, Germany in a place
called The Bear Cave as I remember correctly
We had a day down in Cologne and he was writing
As he does in Cologne and elsewhere but especially in Cologne
And uh, and I had a song and some people said:
"Do you want to come see our studio and play something?"
And I said, "Sure, let's do that, why not?"
And we did and a year later, the rest of the songs
We'd done "Beat the Champ", this is called, "Hair Match"
