The Chosen Few

As the last post plays its's message
And the silence has begun
We remember the souls of the soldiers
Who fought in battles lost and won

Those who died just where they'd fallen
Others lost some suffer in pain
But they never will believe
They did it all in vein

Can the angels sing in glory
So much sadness and hate
War graveyards tell their story
How these young men met their fate

For that is what they trained for
It's a job they had to do
To fight for king queen and country
They are the chosen few

The guns salute their memory
Poppies worn are so blood red
It's important we remember
The souls of the brave dead

Can the angels sing in glory
So much sadness and hate
War graveyards tell their story
How these young men met their fate
