The Old Rolling Pin

I wondered down to old mama's place
From old bottles and trinkets to old fashioned lace
As I followed the shelves to see things from the past
I saw well made objects that were made to last

I picked up several old rolling pins
I thought of the pie crusts and pastry rolled thin
Floured hands had held it down through the years
Bet the hands that held it had seen laughter and tears

This old antique shop hides lots of stories
From old carved wooden horses to flags called old glory
Table clothes embroidered with lots of care
To old chinese brushes made from horse hair

Pastries and recipes passed down to daughters
Thanksgivings recipes wakes after war slaughters
Pots boiling over and steam from the iron
Prayers going out to Jesus in Zion
