From Morning Suburban Sunshine

I gaze on waves of terracotta
Mint cast iron and bricks and steel
I skew my eye and I find I can descry
Suburban landscapes turn to tree lined light wooded fields

That rented house across the road it shimmers
It drowns in ivy and gum bark peel
I skew my eye and I find I can descry
Suburban household's homely humble warmth I sweetly feel
Home
Home

The birds they call and dance on the wires
Content or hoping for their morning meal
I skew my eye and I find I can descry
Suburban wildlife
Devout in its defiance of this world of tar and steel

With a turn of the mind
This suburban sunshine's a heavenly light
The traffic's roar
Are waves from the shore of eternal delight
And the people's odd chatter
Becomes the rich clatter
Of heavenly angels in flight
