AUTOMATON

Way out in the field past sunny blue and grazing green
In the shadow of a tree in solitude stands a machine
With joints beyond repair, his eyes locked in a permanent stare
A gaze that reach a thousand miles
but something turns behind those eyes
Through ticking cogs and clicking gears
a melody, the fair ear hears
Machinery of mystery
Calling out a cry, a plea
And buried deep down underneath lie serpentines with jagged teeth
And all is well, a breeze, at peace
Or that's what all the meters show at least
Oh no
Don't look that way
If you look so sure
Then you will hear
The AUTOMATON roar

Light years out and on and on where lilacs block out the sun
Through shopping malls, by concrete walls
behind the vast Niagara falls
The melody comes beckoning until the day of reckoning
The day not saved by paper and pen
The day machines roam the earth again
Oh no
Don't look that way
If you look so sure
Then you will feel

Oh no
Don't look that way
If you look so sure
Then you will feel
