Ginger Ale

I don't pray on airplanes
I sip on this ginger ale
And try to feel something profound
Before the wheels hit the ground

I don't pray on airplanes
I sit in the guilt of not knowing how it's built
Can I do that now?
And try to make this downtime count?

I have to trust pilots
And well-dressed flight attendants
And this ginger ale

I don't pray on airplanes
My dad says it's useless once you're in the air
He says, "You'll be fine
Just sleep half the time"

But I don't sleep on airplanes
And it isn't the height
I'm afraid I might like the
Free falling, free falling
Be on TV for an engine stalling

I know better
That the pamphlets they gave me outline safety measures
Put on your own mask before helping others
You moron, do not die a martyr

I have to trust people paid to build these planes
People paid to put out flames
And people who are paid to pray
My anxiety will land, and it will be in vain

He says, "You'll be fine"
He says, "You'll be fine"
He says, "We'll be fine
Just sip on a ginger ale half the time"
