How the Day Goes By

How the day goes by like another chapter
Turning page and tide like the moon on the shore
How we stake and find in the safe enclosure
We keep composure but lose our minds

How I try to write when I don't feel so good
Tell my friends goodbye 'less they catch my bad mood
Now I'm stuck inside and there's nothing to do
I'm sad and confused just wondering

What can a lonely girl do for a world that's caving in
And when will we start to heal so life can feel like life again

How the seconds drip like a broken faucet
Keep our bedrooms lit like a rolled cigarette
And we're smoking it like it isn't a threat
Didn't know I'd get so dependent

How the frost rolls in like a tired mother
On the morning shift after zero slumber
How we beckon it to bring forth a new change
Or something to say that ain't been said

What can a lonely girl do for a world that's caving in
And when will we start to heal so life can feel like life again
