Amelia

(Two, three)

Amelia dances with the shadows along her floor
She hangs a silhouette like art on a bedroom door
Quietly, she whispers a prayer
To her ceiling fan
Oh, Amelia dances all alone
Until the world unfolds itself again

Amelia paces through the halls and the empty rooms
She drinks the morning in along with some apple juice
Why do things get so complicated
In the midst of spring?
Oh, Amelia paces back and forth
Until the world recovers from this play

Oh, but Amelia dreams of ice cream stands and people in the street
And Amelia dreams of holding hands and sand beneath her feet
And Amelia wonders why we were so easy to defeat
Was it somethin' we ate?

Amelia picks the dirty laundry from off her floor
She moves the welcome mat from under her bedroom door
Quietly, she washes the dishes
Cleans the bathroom, too
Oh, Amelia takes it day by day
Until the world can tell us what to do
Amelia
Ooh-ooh-ooh, oohoohoo-ooh
Amelia
