I take up space, I stand my ground
Get in my face I'll beat you down
These animal instincts are waiting behind polite conversation
Highly adapt, I think it through
Millions of years have brought me to this place I find myself today
Watching our energy fade

Feeling on the edge, approaching the brink
Just watch your step, don't even blink
A slow sad truth we must accept as we all soon become extinct
So much potential and so much hope
Yet so distracted, we can't cope
Or channel our intentions into something that could save us

I got my energy in the short time allotted for me
I trust my ability and cognitive responsibility
I got my energy, it's all I know and all I will be
Until I, too, will fade and experience my own life drift away

Doing all I can to comprehend the complexity of who I am
And where we are and where we're going and what we've been to no end
I don't believe in your earthly fallacies
But I believe that we are one when this life is done

And it's all we'll ever be to the extent our minds can comprehend
Infinite possibilities, yet fitting so symmetrical
You can't deny that we're all part of the same design that's built to die
