Every Rocket I Crash
One, Two, One, Two, Three, Four
Back when I was eight years old
I saw you in the field behind those
Trees your hair as black as coal
I dreamt that night of all the wholesome
Beauty in the world arose the
Next day in the field I found
They'd took you to the moon
I looked up at the sky and there it
Was, that yellow crescent lip
I swore that moment I would give
My life to build a rocket ship in
Which to fly from here to there with
That I shouted at you longing
Love I'll see you soon
We'll be together someday
With every rocket I crash
I'll better do what I do
A little luck and some cash and
I'll be coming for you
With every rocket I break
A bit more cardboard and glue
I learn from every mistake
I'll soon be coming for you
I'll soon be coming for you
In high school I kept mainly to
Myself, my teachers stupefied as
I was always lost and idling
Every minute of the dial
Thinking of the moment when
I'd see you for the first time
In a half a dozen years
When I would get home from school
I'd head straight to the spare bedroom
The project was progressing smoothly
Parts they sent from Syracuse had
Just arrived, and pretty soon I
Solved the last equation
Thereby shattering my fears
We'll be together someday
With every rocket I crash
I'll better do what I do
A little luck and some cash and
I'll be coming for you
With every rocket I break
And the schematics redo
I learn from every mistake
I'll soon be coming for you
I'll soon be coming for you
By myself I've lived for over 40 years
I've studied aeroengineering at the local college
And by day I fix old planes
But in the evening I no longer sleep
I set ablaze a dozen little farms
Most recently the prototype stayed
On it's course and made some gains
I'm confident impending changes
Will result in finally making
All my dreams come true by saving you
We'll both be saved when I can hold you in my arms
We'll be together someday
With every rocket I crash
I'll better do what I do
A little luck and some cash and
I'll be coming for you
With every rocket I break
Replace this circuit that screw
I learn from every mistake
I'll soon be coming for you
I am coming for you
I am coming for you
I am coming for you
I am coming for you
Back when I was eight years old
