Someplace South of Texas
Leaving Carolina with an achin' in my heart
Leaving Carolina with an achin' in my heart
Well I'm someplace south of Texas
Y'all come down now, hear?
You're all up north from where I sit
All y'all are yanquis down here
It's the magic land said my friend Jack
So I had to take a look
It was better than my wildest dreams
You won't learn that from no book
They got chickens running everywhere
The sky is turquoise blue
There's pretty girls with raven hair
Tequila and mezcal too
One morning I met a bruja
She told me about a toad
With the key to heaven inside your head
If you wanna go down that road
Well I'm someplace south of Texas
Y'all come down now, hear?
You're all up north from where I sit
All y'all are yanquis down here
You wouldn't believe what grows round here
Every kind of plant and tree
They got chile peppers to make you cry
A mushroom to help you see
There's an herb that cures a broken heart
A weed to rest your mind
There's a cactus with some juicy buds
And flowers of every kind
There's rice and corn and beans of course
When you simply gotta eat
there's fruit of every shape and color
If you're looking for something sweet
South of the border is where it's at
Y'all come down now, hear?
You're all up north from where I sit
All y'all are yanquis down here
When I ran across that bruja again
I was dying for something new
I said tell me about this toad thing
She said, it's not really for you
I said I've already had me some cactus
I've eaten seven kinds of bugs
I drank every type of mezcal they got
Is this toad is some sort of drug?
Oh no, she said, it's medicinal
But there's nothing that it cures
It's a treatment that's traditional
And that's part of its allure
Take a lick
Well I'm still new around these parts
So it's hard for me to say
But I knew as soon as I tasted that toad
That I was gonna stay, right here in
Someplace south of Texas
Y'all come down now, hear?
You're all up north from where I sit
All y'all are gringos down here
All y'all are güeros down here
All y'all are yanquis down here
Leaving Carolina with an achin' in my heart
Well I'm someplace south of Texas
Y'all come down now, hear?
You're all up north from where I sit
All y'all are yanquis down here
