Rule #29 - Throne Room

The team held their eyes upon the mountain
One of them could see that an opening was there
He told them that it might go much deeper
Than every single cave from their past that they had shared

He needed to reach much further
Into the void of sight
Way past the steps of a father
Whose boots never did fit quite right
He sought his own reputation
No longer a doctor's son
He needed cards at their table
To prove he's no longer young

Cold mud was piled up to their kneecaps
There was barely light from the lantern that was lit
One was shouting "Guys, come, you really need to see this"
She could feel the air from the cliff that now was there
He knew they stood before greatness
A throne you can't describe

No longer holding bereavement
They found each other that night
And as they sent a flare onwards
It barely made out the size
The first to see a new distance
The edge of the world with their eyes

He broke down and had to pray
To thank his God, in his own way
While he recalled the life
He spent to find this
And everything he gave
