Before the Fall
Little kid big family born into poverty
His father constantly told him to act properly
'Cause he was reckless, immature, malicious
But he was also pretty clever, hardworking, and ambitious
He survived the war and put his head on straight
He started working twenty-four seven no time to waste
He traded cigarettes for sugar turned his sugar to a ship
Less than a year later 1 ship turned into 6
He had 6 children and married the beauty queen
Company was a well-oiled money making machine
Attitude like he could never lose
It's no wonder that everybody called him W
But the conviction that grew his business swelled his ego
To the point that he'd spend every night at the casino
In the shipping industry nobody questioned his brilliance
But at the Bacarat table he just pissed away millions
Such a great man just had to have a weakness
And even in his sickness his gambling was ceaseless
Not feeding his craving to him was like torture
To the point where he almost squandered the family fortune
What about his grandkids he really loved them
If he lost it all, what would they think of him
Overcame his addiction and walked away from the game
But arrogance very nearly poured his legacy down the drain
Fast forward a few decades a generation skipped
To another loving husband and father of two kids
He worked hard played hard chasing adrenaline
But he never forgot to teach his son to be a gentleman
Instilled discipline in both his children
So that one day they'd experience the same success he was building
A self made man, an even better provider
Enjoyed the fast life of jet skis and motorcycles
Perfectly comfortable going at his own pace
Till another guy on a bike urged him to give chase
A burst of speed from a moment of conceit
Couldn't manage the turn and his body hit the concrete
A lot of injuries for someone so young
He had a hose in his body draining blood from his lung
Ribs and shoulder shattered back bruised and battered
The fact that he was breathing was the only thing that mattered
And if health is wealth he wasn't living in luxury
All my prayers answered he made a full recovery
Came back a stronger smarter version of himself
All that's left now's a dented helmet on the shelf
Everyday he still feels the pain and the tension
Failure the greatest teacher taught him the greatest lesson
That a minute feeding your ego could send you to the grave
I learned it when arrogance almost took Pop away
His father constantly told him to act properly
'Cause he was reckless, immature, malicious
But he was also pretty clever, hardworking, and ambitious
He survived the war and put his head on straight
