Anne

There are some people who make a one-off appearance
And there are some who make you ache
Love is remarkable for its tenacious adherence
And for the simple lies that we make
Do you remember the simple lies we make?

When you left me, I lost an innocent part of myself
That believed in fairytales and the happily ever after
I learnt that love just can't fix everything that needs some help
And I lost the part of me that believed love lasts forever
And our love couldn't have lasted forever

I try to be stoic and tell myself that we were collateral damage
Lost in the wild world where all accidents happen
But I falsely assumed that I'd be able to manage
This emotional turmoil, that has become a perpetual pattern
Or should I say, our perpetual pattern

Looking back now, I had so many grand schemes
You'll never know how much I longed to make you mine
It seems that you never really run out of dreams
Still, sometimes you just, sometimes you just run out of time
And you and I just ran out of time
