Subway

Waiting on a subway train
And an all natural cigarette
One that won't stain my brain
And gets me where I gots to get
Where that is I don't rightly know
Though I read about it in a magazine
It said the back of Ernest Tubb's record store
Was the prettiest place I'd ever see
It's time to flow on down the line
Taking it easy eases my mind
Living my life from inside of my dreams
I jump into that cold muddy river
And it washes me clean
This is not a highway song
Though the highway's got its part to play
Or a story of true love gone
Only to return some other day
This is a song of the here and now
And the joy that we all got to spread
And the love that we have to share
Why can't you get that through your head
It's time to flow on down the line
Taking it easy eases my mind
Living my life from inside of my dreams
I jump into that cold muddy river
And it washes me clean
