Floor 15

My heart aches when I think of that girl
Sitting all alone in an examination room
The first of many, but she doesn't know it yet
Nothing will come too late or
Come to her too soon
She fidgets with her brand new coat
Laces off her worn in shoes
Cries before she even knows why she is

And I wanna tell her, "It's not your fault."
Tell her that it's gonna be okay
Things won't go the way you planned
But that's too much for you to know today

Crowded sidewalks, gentle rain
Walking by she doesn't even try to hide her tears
Or hide her pain
She finds herself grateful to be in a city full of
Crazy people who make her look
Just a little more sane

And I wanna tell her, "It's not your fault."
Tell her that it's gonna be okay
Things won't go the way you planned
But that's too much for you to know today

She waves hello to the elevator man
"Take me up to floor fifteen."
It's under construction just like her and
She laughs at the irony
