The Raven and the Writing Desk

Words on a subject on a page
Which sits upon
A singular Writing Desk
Majestic in form
Who can behold this simple slab
Of wood aged and worn
No eye can see
Or mind perceive
What terrors it may spawn

The feathered fiend will wing its way
Watching o'er our days
No ear can hear it say
Nevermore shall it return
Its beak like steel, its claws that grasp
Many'a skull and bone
No plan is made
That can evade
The Raven still unknown

And so comes the point of this tale
This is the true mystery
The Raven and the Writing Desk
Plain for all to see
Plain for none to see
