Considering You

Momma a super power
Brilliant beyond belief
Taught me everything I know but never got a degree
Sure she's rough around the edges
But the love was rent free
So if you ever doubt your skill
Simply listen to me

Versiphire the poet
Momma's my biggest fan
Break me down and build me make me a better man
Always held me to the fire, cleaned me up when I got burned
Taught me losing ain't a loss if the lessons are being learned

Butting heads cause i'm rebellious
Humbled me with a belt
Sat me down and talked with me
Too stubborn to ask for help
Ma I've fumbled all too often
You told me don't doubt myself
So, When I walk on graduation, congratulate yourself

I didn't notice in my youth the sacrifices parents make
All too often I was bitter even called you out your name
Raised 3 kids, no father needed
Never whined and Never waned
Weeping silently in your sleep then working the next day

A living legend in my eyes, despite the imperfections
Give it everything you have when only God is bearing witness
Even now with open eyes, I just don't understand it
Words will never do it justice
Still indulge me for a moment

Mom for me you were a pillar so don't doubt it for a minute
Even when I'm messing up never call it into question
If I fall I'm getting up, if i'm not bleeding I'm alright
Look at your kids to see your worth that's just some lame advice

Accountability is dodged because a kid will blame their parent
I was given all the tools so blaming mom is not the answer
I could talk at age 2
Could ride a bike at age 9
So why at 18 would I blame
Mistakes on you who gave me life

I'll be the first to say I suck
I know I'm selfish, sometimes rude
Quick to voice my own opinion
I'm the smartest in the room
But before you blame my mother
Please consider the truth
Mom did an excellent job
At least I'm honest with you

Some traits originate from ego
And that's the case with me
I'll do my best to be the son my mother raised me to be
If not for Z then for the shoulders that I stand upon
The king who's resting in the grave
And for the Queen, known as my Mom
