Place To Land

Noah let a bird escape from the ark
On the three hundred fortieth day
Trying to find out if the waters of the great flood
Had begun to dissipate
'Cause if the waters receded the tops of the trees
Would be finding their way toward the sun
So old Noah opened up a window
And let out a raven and a snow-white dove
Looking for a high, dry, safe place to land

Those birds flew far and wide searching for any sign
Of new life in a desolate land
They'd fly til they tired then come back to perch
On old Noah's outstretched hand
But the next day he'd send them again and again
Never letting up or giving up
Because he knew there'd come a day when the rainbow would say
That the wrath of the Lord was enough
And there would be a high, dry, safe place to land

And my heart is a bird floating over a world
That's just drowning in hurting and pain
All around me is emptiness, endless grey skies
Breaking up into droplets of rain
But my wings are still open, just waiting and hoping
That soon all my searching will end
And I will finally find a resting place in the face
Of an honest and true loving friend
Who can be my high, dry safe place to land
Just looking for a high, dry, safe place to land
Still looking for a high, dry, safe place to land
