Paper Swan Song

Fools have the right
The right to a life
To a life of love
Just like any other kind

But I'm no fool
I'm just some guy
Some guy with a dream
And a turbulent mind
With impermanent signs
Of a life live with love

Fools work all day
Folding away
At paper swans
From dusk till dawn

And out in the streets
Exchange them for eats
Trading dollars and dimes
For some cheap boxed wines
To keep in line
Their most turbulent minds

The swans they sell
Forever entail
A part of them
That will never return

And if never loved
Or when things get tough
They'll fold more swans
And they'll be gone
Gone from the binds
Of a turbulent mind

Oh, trading time
Misplacing comfort of mind
