Animals In the Sky

Today was a long day
I let out a sigh
Laid my blanket down on the grass
And I looked up at the sky
And all the shapes above
Had made me fall in love
When I had thought my heart was running dry

Life gets so twisted up
And it can be so hard to unwind
And art can seem like nothing more
Than primary colors and lines
But the clouds in the atmosphere
Had made it all so clear
When I thought I was going out of my mind

Every time I see the northern lights
I see a thousand pretty girls
And whenever I look up at the stars at night
They always light my world

The animals in the sky make me happy all the time
It takes me back to another day
And the creatures above me, I'm self conscious, do you love me?
Or do you just love me in a different way?

I see a house, I see a tree
High school sweethearts, future family
I see the good times they will share
I hear the music, I hear the song
I hear the kids singing along
I hear the burdens they will bear
But Mother Nature's Lullaby
Painted in the clear blue sky

I love long drives through the country
I love long walks through the snow
I love laying in the grass when it's sunny
That comes from my mama, I know
And the only happy blue
