Illinois

I don't know how to be the old me
The me that came before you
And because of that past
My present is slightly ruined

Though I want to say thanks
For gifting my future
A ribbon wrapped tight around my heart
An intense pressure
A mind measured

Yet I still hold in the capability to stand on my own two feet
But I miss the old me
The stronger before you came me
But now the bolder me is the only thing that takes a hold of me

Because with hurt comes numbness
And I just want someone to blame
So okay
I'll say you've done this

Destroyed my thoughts on trust
On love
On purpose
Never did I deserve this

To be left with options
Unbearably emotional adoptions
And don't say you still love me
Or that you still care

Just genuinely say you are sorry
So I can move on from here
In this bitter state

Illinois
