The Astronaut

The year is two-thousand-one-hundred-twenty-two
And the world as we know it is coming to an end
The seas are overflowing
The trees are all on fire
There's not enough food and the air is getting drier
Humanity's extinction is getting very near
But not for someone like me
I have nothing to fear
I'm about to leave this godforsaken place once and for all

Cause the thing is
I'm a mega rich genius billionaire
Everyone lives in my virtual reality
My created escape from society
They'd rather rot in my VR than deal with what's outside
And that's alright
Cause the real world's fucked up
It's been that way for a long time
So I created a rocket ship to take me away on a final trip
Up in the stars I built a base on Mars
I'll spend the rest of my days there
I got robots to keep me company
They're better than real people anyway
Thank you all for filling my pockets
You guys paid for all of this
I'm saying goodbye for the last time
Today is the day that I take flight
I'm strapping in right now
I'm suited up
All systems are a go
I hope y'all figure it out somehow
But honestly it's hard to care

Lift off
I'm blasting through the air
I look out of my window at the once blue sky now yellow
I'm way above the cloud line gaining momentum with time
As I leave the exosphere I hear a ringing in my ears
All that force has got my head pretty light
So I'm struggling now to keep open my eyes
I know I'll be fine if I just take a rest for a minute

I wake up to red flashing lights coming from my ship's navigation device
It says I've been off course
For how long
For a while
I look to see how long it says two hundred million miles
That's impossible I just barely closed my eyes
I must have entered hyperspace on accident I realize
I've run out of fuel
Oxygen will soon be gone
I am forced to breathe my final breaths
Here among the stars
Oh why was I so greedy in my time down there on Earth
All I wanted was more riches but now all that has no worth
I should have found a way to save the world with all my power
But that's not what I did so now I'll spend my final hours alone

I don't
I don't wanna die
No
I don't wanna die
No
I don't wanna die
No
I don't wanna die
No
I don't wanna die
No
I don't wanna die
No
I don't wanna die
No
I don't wanna die
