Burglar Eyes

The sun always has its burglar eyes
As it rises and when it fades
In the morning, it steals the night
In the evening, it steals my way to get back home
If you pay attention to its roasting
All the parties that it's been hosting here
You'll realize that it's mostly foolish
Finish up your errands and get back home

I'm learning not to examine everything
So the light can keep on with its glistening

If the TV is on, then turn it off
I spend too much time comparing anyway
My own life is far too boring
Come inside where it's not pouring buckets of rain
We'll sit around and talk about
How we really know what it's all about on our own
All the other people don't know a thing
Wait until the day their luck runs away

I'm learning not to examine everything
So the light can keep on with its glistening

And when they come, I'll let 'em go
You know I'm the first one to know
That living this easy comes at a high cost
Messed around ended up getting lost

I'm rested on this coffin, feet reclined
Until I get sick enough to get up
No more wasting of any time
Letting things flow as they unwind right out the door
Right out the door
Right out the door
Don't know why I've been putting this off
It's already made me feel so much better
Put the letter in the mail
Shake the dust out from the rug, and get back home
