Conclusion

We are still at the learning stage
It is difficult to attain perfect
Equanimity while we still
Cling to ourselves
But we should work hard
To establish right understanding
Develop compassion and wisdom
And reduce our
Self-centerdness
And ignorance

The perfection of equanimity
Must be
Rooted based on one's
Mental purity in which
One is free from self-referencing
Where the delusion of
Ignorance is completely eliminated
While confronting with the eight wordly winds
We are elated when praised
And depressed when blamed
As we are carried away
By our ignorance of the truth of ourselves
And the external phenomena
He is wise
Says the Buddha
Who
Amidst such vicissitudes of life
Stands unmoved like unto
A firm rock
Exercising perfect equanimity
An understanding person
Will not be infatuated by the
Beauty of the thorns
He will view them
As they are and will
Take precaution not to be wounded
Like the pendulum that perpetually
Turns to the right and left
Desirable and undesirable conditions
Prevail in this world which everyone
Without exception
Must perforce face
In the course of one's lifetime
