Cemetery Sunset
There are cracks at the foot of our gravestones
A shoddy amateur build
Assembled with love by our own four hands
What we lacked in skill, we made up in sheer will
Now the weeds push forth like rats in the basement
They fight to be the first through the wall
No keeper around that can stop them from growing
They'll topple us soon but when we stood, we stood tall
Sunset at the cemetery
We hold hands as our shadows grow tall
Dreading the moment they'll be buried
Our silhouettes swallowed by nightfall
Drive me home before the dead come to call
We stayed out as late as we could stay
Chasing each ghost from its grave
Purgatory lived by the Bardo Code
"Leave every plane more pristine than you came"
When we met, lost souls passing through strangers
But stuck when you fell in my arms
Never learn our lesson like it's lather, rinse, repeat
Why not try to navigate the labyrinth with me?
Sunset at the cemetery
We hold hands as our shadows grow tall
Dreading the moment they'll be buried
Our silhouettes swallowed by nightfall
Drive me home before the dead come to call
Maybe the keys fit the lock
Just not to the door that we thought
And maybe the stars make the light
But with you tonight
We'll have our last dance as the moon starts to rise
Sunset at the cemetery
We fade into the fog and from sight
Dreading the moment we'll be buried
What will we look like on the other side
So this is what it feels like to...
A shoddy amateur build
