On the Other Side (of the Fence)

It's finally dark, all but the lights shining from the city
But someone doesn't understand the time
Those roosters crow all night
Always singing different songs
And the dogs across the neighborhood sing along

When they start to harmonize
I must be getting tired
Last I counted there's at least a dozen
Back when I moved in they asked
Are you worried about the sound?
And I smiled, shook my head and said I wasn't

The stars are pale, the moon is low, the roosters crow
Maybe my neighbor's setting up a fight
I can hardly even guess
My dogs can't get no rest
Something's going down on the other side of the fence
Something's going down on the other side of the fence

When they start to harmonize
I must be getting tired
Last I counted there's at least a dozen
That means twelve or more!
Back when I moved in they asked
Are you worried about the sound?
And I smiled, shook my head and said I wasn't
You know, I lied and shook my head and said I wasn't
