Lighthouse

Life
Light
They have a way of intertwining
As I come to outside on the beach

Death
Darkness
Try to keep them from combining
As I trip over my feet

The waves
They crash behind
I head to the door
And I go inside

Run up
The stairs so fast
To take my chances
And reach the light at the peak

I get to the top
To find the light
That rescued me
Only to find
I was never free

Run away
From the light
And the damn golden handcuffs
You've chained to me

The light
Is calling out
But It's the only
The only place I can see

I don't
Have anywhere
To go
But down

Or feel
The sweetness
Of death's release

Still I feel
A sense of resolve

A wave of
Calm sweeps over me...

A flame
Of distant warmth
Reaches out to
Wrap me up

Run down
The stairs so fast
To take my chances
With the cold embrace of the sea

I was fooled
By a silent song
A dancing light
A dryness of land

I'm back
To the beach
I see a ship in the distance
Calling out to me
So I'll take my chances
And dive
Head first in the sea
