Walking Uphill
Looking down the hill, towering so tall
Where I grew up had no hills at all
The going is steep but I press deep still
To learn what it's like to hike uphill
Writing songs backwards is the only way through it
I know that I had to have to do it
I wish I could do things with more than pride
I grew up without hills so I learned how to hide
Now I'm walking alone, and probably much too far
Thinking about writing on my guitar
I grew up with no hills, no sorrow or strife
Now I'm gonna climb the hills of my life
Where I grew up had no hills at all
The going is steep but I press deep still
To learn what it's like to hike uphill
Writing songs backwards is the only way through it
I know that I had to have to do it
I wish I could do things with more than pride
I grew up without hills so I learned how to hide
Now I'm walking alone, and probably much too far
Thinking about writing on my guitar
I grew up with no hills, no sorrow or strife
Now I'm gonna climb the hills of my life
