My Own Time

To all the guards at the castle gate
I have made my very best case
There's nothing left I can do or say
To convince them this way, that way
In my defense there was no time left
And I got caught looking around
I'm on my knees now, suddenly pleading
This is what I need, I guess

All I can do is to walk amongst the hours
And all that I find is the day outside
I'm not left behind when I'm on my own time

To everyone kneeling down at the gate
There is something you should know
I must admit, I've been here twenty years
Never once have I seen it open
Do what you want, don't just take it from me
But I stand up and turn around
Life moves on quick with or without me
I may as well take my chances now

All I can do is to walk amongst the hours
And all that I find is the day outside
I'm not left behind when I'm on my own time

All I can do is to walk amongst the hours
And all that I find is the day outside
I'm not left behind

All I can do is to walk amongst the hours I never knew
And all that I find is the day outside
I'm not left behind when I'm on my own time
