Music Is My Life

Man I been thinking bout
How I chose to go a different route
Writing music from the same place
From when I was starting out
Dreams of making my own mixtapes
That'll take me out the house
Thought that I could make it when
I was half as good as me now
Times are changing
Reality setting in on the daily
Invested so much in this with no payment
Back and I'm contemplating
Everything that I've created
Is it enough for me to ride on
To achieve greatness
Man I don't know
I thought I would figure it out by now
But I still feel like I'm scratching
The surfaces of my sound
On the road to ten thousand
Where practice hours feel like miles
I haven't felt good in a while
All I wanna be is proud
I just watch movies I used to
Enjoy when I was a kid
Just to think there was a time in my life
Where peace did exist
Now I'm waking up in cold sweats
Wonder where to go next
My songs they project
My exact feelings with this shit, word

Yeah
I've been thinking bout
What this music means to me right now
And how I'm thankful
I stuck through all of the headaches and the trials
It's a feeling that you get
When you get something of your chest
Turn that pain into a vibe
You bob your head to once awhile
My goal now is to make
Music that doesn't age
Where it sounds new
When you decide to drop it in a decade
That real shit's gonna last
All this new shit's just a phase
There's a reason why my sound
And your sound aren't the same
I been putting in the lab work
Noting my mistakes, how to fix it
And through that, I start to see my progress faster
I'm writing all the texts and
Y'all just reading the chapters
Everybody wants to be the man
But fumbles when it matters
I see my music as art
And every word is a stroke
And they're all doing their part
I take a different approach
To where an album's a painting
And there's a feeling evoked
I write this music from the heart
Your shit is not even close, shame
