A Vision of Blue

Touching down the final steps I take before I'm sucked out from this world
Pulled apart in all directions, leave my black cloud to rise and swirl
Built to instill a sense of grandeur these are haunted, hollow halls
Seated high above the city, the tower of Babel stares in awe

Never dreamt I'd die for something this much bigger than myself
Though my body won't stop shaking, I carry on a man compelled
And the future sings a chorus to keep me in its memory
The day we set it all aside, the day we finally showed our teeth

I'm fixing to end it all here, you know

Back and forth, around and round we go, through the metal voice it spoke
Every question met with answer, I start to see beneath the cloak

Makes no difference what you choose, when in the end there's hell to pay

How do I spare this living thing while keeping my promise kept?
