New Feeling

Got some bad news and a feeling that's strange
And I think I got the blues and some pain
I suppose it's eight
I thought it was an age
I'll just ruminate
Guess I'd better turn the page

And the next sunny day, I went and froze
And the feeling went away-I got nothing from my clothes
From time to time now I stop and smell a rose
Don't tell me how to write my prose

I felt her love, though I never felt her touch
I spoke in the present tense, but wasn't there too much
The next day she was gone on a venture of her own
So, I went to lunch with a sour, sour bunch

Rain came down
And washed the streetlights out of town
