Crunch

Nothing's as heartbreaking as one person aching
In a room all alone
He turns off his phone
Despite fully knowing that it never rings
But holding out hope that he means something to someone

Untouched and cut off
He's feeling so lost and afraid every day
He's got so much love to give out
If only someone allowed it

And so he grabs a notebook and a pen from the bedside table
Numbers his page from one to ten wishing he were able
To complete the list of reasons to live
But his paper's as empty as him
And his paper's as empty as him

Everything gets trapped inside
Asking "who put this brain here for it can't be mine"
His thoughts are becoming so loud
He's lonely alone and in crowds

It's been so long since he needed to speak
Spider webs coat his throat and his teeth
And he can't recognize the sound of his voice
By now he's learned not to make too much noise
