In Orbit

I'm on a moon of a distant planet
Somewhere I never thought I would go
I feel so far away
From everything I know

Peering on down at the world below
Everyone's going about their days
But I'm a million miles away
While their lives stay unchanged

Can't break free from this gravity
Life weighs me down
I won't clear this atmosphere
I'm lying on the ground

I could stay here on this faraway moon
In the temporal orbit of death
I'm not ready to say goodbye
And rejoin all the rest

There's no returning to normalcy
Part of me died when she left
I will stay here in this orbit forever
Never come home again

And I pray that someday soon
Someone looks up at the moon and thinks of me
Thinks of the tears I've cried and thinks of me
Under the same night sky

Can't break free from this gravity
Life weighs me down
I won't clear this atmosphere
I'm lying on the ground
