Golden Streets

Why do I expect things to change
It's my fault I'm always to blame
I don't think it should remain the same
Yet I live this life the same way

Misused my brain
A beautiful mistake
Reservations for a party of one that I made
The memories will fade
I'll throw my own parade
On these golden streets that I worked so hard to pave
No crowds that I see
But I'll still wave
I built these barricades just to feel a little safe
Memories of a maze
Lost in my headspace
Blocking out the pain that I wish I could erase

Why does it seem
That you only talk to me
When you need something
Or you have nothing
Else better to do
I'm kinda used to
The pain I've been through
No one cares what's new

My feelings get hurt I'll go ahead admit it
When my parades have little to no attendance
But I have job that is not yet finished
So the show must go on despite who wants in it

Clouded thoughts inside my brain
Heart hurts from all the pain
These 808's replaying
My heart's eternal ache

Why do I expect things to change
It's my fault I'm always to blame
I don't think it should remain the same
Yet I live this life the same way

Misused my brain
A beautiful mistake
Reservations for a party of one that I made
The memories will fade
I'll throw my own parade
On these golden streets that I worked so hard to pave
No crowds that I see
But I'll still wave
I built these barricades just to feel a little safe
Memories of a maze
Lost in my headspace
Blocking out the pain that I wish I could erase

Misused my brain
A beautiful mistake
Reservations for a party of one that I made
The memories will fade
I'll throw my own parade
On these golden streets that I worked so hard to pave
No crowds that I see
But I'll still wave
I built these barricades just to feel a little safe
Memories of a maze
Lost in my headspace
Blocking out the pain that I wish I could erase
