Anxious Mind
I'm tossing, I'm turning, my stomach is churning
My thoughts reoccurring, my head won't stop hurting
My heart won't stop yearning, my blood won't stop burning
But I'm learning
It feels like an elephant sat on my chest, spit three or four words out
A minute at best
Yet everyone else seems to have enough breath
So why does it feel like I'm so close to losing control to the trolls controlling the mind
I'm hacking through viruses hoping to find a heart rate that's kind
To this anxious mind, this anxious mind, this anxious mind
Put down your anxiety, come and fly away with me
Everybody wants to see the you that you were meant to be
So put down your anxiety, it's time to change the frequency
Let's protect that energy, just breathe
But life in plastic is fantastic, till Australia's trees are brassic
Amazon's sold out of Phoenix can a koala carry a Kleenex
Kale and tofu? no thank you I know I should, but
Ooo if only pepperoni didn't taste so good
Infestation swept the nation
Everyone's in isolation
Still half of the population
Need a little spring awakening
To the liberties they're taking
Colours of the winds are changing
All this progress they died making
Still so much discrimination, I can't believe
These politicians on their mission, fishing through all their decisions
My acquisition in lyricism is all I've got to make them listen
Acquisition in lyricism, all I've got to make you
Put down your anxiety, come and fly away with me
Everybody wants to see the you that you were meant to be
So put down your anxiety, it's time to change the frequency
Let's protect that energy, just breathe
We're penniless millennials still hanging on to fairy tales, so
Free the plant to free the lives from guns and knives and rich people lies
But south parks Ninja Club blew up, all gods gaffs and rainbow pubs
Extinguishing delinquency rack up the brain, dig up a degree
Just fight it, light it, do it all night, it
Won't ever change because you'll be excited
Everyone knows that one day you will find it
Despite the fact that nobody could like it
Sorry, I've just got really bad anxiety because
I'm just kind of full of empathy worrying about that plastic island the size of Texas in the sea and
Nemo's probably stuck in a can of Pepsi somewhere and everyone's like
It's okay, the planet will be fine and I'm like
No you don't understand, if you don't recycle that can right now we're all going
To die
Sorry
Woah, woah, woah, alright, do you need to take a breather or something
No, no, no, I'm fine, just get this done
Right, but this isn't theatre, we don't have to do it all in one take
Sorry, it's just I'm like wary because like studio time is money and it makes me all anxious
And
Right, right, yeah, but just do me a favour for a second, you can stay in the booth
Just close your eyes for me and count
Oh, I'm just really bad at all the Mindfulness stuff, my brain's too busy
Yeah, but what do you have to lose
Just give it a go
Oh, fine, okay
Right, okay, here we go
Close your eyes and breathe with me
So
In two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, then
Hold two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, then
Out two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight
Yeah, I know it's weird, but honestly it's going to work, so right, let's just do it
One more time
Okay
So, in two, three, four
I know this all sounds cliche
Hold two, three, four
But it works, what can I say
And out two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight
Keep calm and carry on again
The world is a mess in more ways than one, but how can we fix it with our sanity gone
The reason everyone goes on and on about the importance of breathing is because
It's the first response cure for when your anxiety attacks and your fight or flight is triggered
The only difference is we're not cavemen anymore being chased by a saber-toothed tiger
So deep breathing, it convinces the brain to call off the attack
It sends signals to the body to put that adrenaline back
Because you can't run from your taxes
And crying like a toddler isn't going to get that essay handed in any sooner
So call me brave or call me weird, but just breathe with me
In two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight
Hold two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight
Out two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight
Keep calm and carry on again
I am tossing, I'm turning, stomach is churning
Thoughts reoccurring, head will stop hurting
Heart will stop yearning, blood will stop burning
Yes I'm learning, yes we are learning
So when that elephant sits on your chest
Just gather your thoughts and try breathing instead
Mindfully notice the thoughts in your head
They just want attention, so put them to bed
Oh my god, that was really good. Can we do that again
Yeah, well I mean, we've got a whole album to get through, so should we do it again at the end
Yeah, so people can just like skip the scatty rappy bit and just put on a breathing track
That's a shout
My thoughts reoccurring, my head won't stop hurting
My heart won't stop yearning, my blood won't stop burning
But I'm learning
It feels like an elephant sat on my chest, spit three or four words out
