Positive Affirmation

So there's this really cheesy part of therapy which honestly it really helps
If you use it responsibly, one mindful non-judgmentally
Your self-esteem will start to see that
You need to love yourself
So channel your inner zen, pick up a paper and a pen
Accentuate the positives about yourself and then
The law of attraction will see you through
Should you manifest these statements to be true

We all need a positive, we need a positive affirmation
My therapist says writing one will give me some mental confirmation
After my self-esteem, it took quite a hit
Now my core beliefs are pretty counterfeit
Therefore I am led to believe I am indeed a piece of sh-
Hey i must stay positive, this is my positive affirmation

Well the advice is concrete that we are what we eat, well the same fact applies to our brains
We feel how we think when our life's on the brink, we've got nothing to lose when we say
I am enough, no
I am worthy, no
I am a kind-hearted, oh my god stop it
This is weird, it's really freaking weird
This isn't me, how can I be so cliche
Oh I just, I hate myself, I hate myself,
For taking to heart the cards i was dealt

Well just hate yourself forever
Come on, opposite action girl, get it together

This is my positive, this is my positive affirmation
My therapist says writing this will give me some mental confirmation
After my self-esteem it took quite a hit
Now my core beliefs are pretty counterfeit
Therefore I am led to believe I am indeed a piece of
Okay I will stay positive
This is my positive affirmation

I've got an idea! so in the finale of RuPaul's Drag Race he gets the contestants to
Give advice to their childhood selves and every year it makes me emotional as hell so
I thought I'd give it a go on myself

You are the brightest crayon in all of the boxes, both inside and out
You work those quirks creatively, if not a little bit too loud, no, proud, yep
Keep opening that mind, be kind and don't ever feel the need to apologise for being
you
Boom
Can I go now

No, those words were great but you need to turn them into a positive affirmation
Try saying it again but with I am instead of you are

I am the brightest crayon in the box inside and out
I work my quirks creatively, I am different, I am proud, I am kind, I'm open-minded
I have a lot of love to give and I
Why am I crying

You know that little uncomfortable gut feeling you get overhearing a
Discriminatory comment or something not very nice
Well that's because your moral belief system doesn't agree with what's being said
So clearly your belief system doesn't agree that you're all of those
Positive things you're saying about yourself
And if you want to be like Lady Gaga you'll have to learn to take a compliment
So keep going until you really believe what you're saying otherwise it doesn't work
Okay, DBT skills, take it away

I am the brightest crayon in the box inside and out
I work my quirks creatively, I am different, I am proud, I am kind, I'm open-minded
I have a lot of love to give and I
Don't have to say sorry for any of it
Great, say it again

I am the brightest crayon in the box inside and out
I work my quirks creatively, I am different, I am proud, I am kind, I'm open-minded
I have a lot of love to give and I don't have to say sorry for any of it
Come on, try it once more

I am the brightest crayon in the box inside and out
Oh yes, I work my quirks creatively, I am different, I am proud
And remember
If you can't love yourself, how the hell you gonna love somebody else
Can I get an amen up in here

This is my positive, this is my positive affirmation
You need to plant the seed for your self-esteems vibration
Just listen to Ru you know she is right
Unless they're paying your bills you gotta pay them no mind
If you can't love yourself
How can you love somebody else

I am the brightest crayon in the box inside and out
I work my quirks creatively, I am different, I am proud, I am kind, I'm open-minded
I have a lot of love to give and I don't have to say sorry for any of it
Because we're all born naked and the rest is

That's the end of our session now, Ellerose
What Well, I'll have forgotten this by next week
How am I meant to remember all of that

Well, you say you remember things when you write songs about them
So why not try that
Pfft. Yeah, because people really want to hear a song about therapy
You'd be surprised
