A Man and a Wise Fool

Through a tiny eye I thread the needle
Gravity starts to unroll the reel
Where I always put my faith in reason
Fortune pulled the rug away from me

But when it looks an awful lot like misery
The way I see it
There's nothing that'll mark this out from simple stupidity

Am I a fool, to believe myself
Am I a genius or am I a deluded prisoner
Don't even need to tell you twice
This old mind's a wicked minister, one step back inside will finish you
Are you a wise man?
In the disguise of someone insolent, the perfect idiot
Just tell me more, just tell me now
Tell me how to capture dissonance, find the spark inside oblivion

Should I envy you for never knowing
All the weight that sat upon my back
I'm still here waiting for you to show me
How to let the ropes in my hands slack

I've written you as quite the awful character
When to be honest
I've covered what's in front of me with nothing but mirrors

Yes I'm a fool, with a king's plans
I've got no answers but I'm dressed in questions like a riddler
No I don't know, don't have a clue
All my fictions were so sinister, wish I knew the truth was simpler
Let me take your hand
Stop seeing everything reflected in this filthy windowpane
Let's leave this floor, let's leave these walls
Let go of our every fear and dance away inside the hurricane
