Thank You

Whenever I think of the future, I feel anxious
Well, unless that future's with you, because in that case, I always picture things being alright
Like there's this one scenario I have in my mind, where we're sitting on the shore of a deserted beach
The sun's blazing down, scorching our skin, but we just sit in the sand and calmly watch the waves that are hardly calm at all

And as our clothes turn to rags and our hair to dreads, we don't really even say anything
We just hold our gaze on the water for as long as our souls still need a physical host
We occasionally glance over at each other, the ocean reflected in our eyes, shimmering
And we smile, because everything's alright

When my mind is drifting around the cosmos and I haven't the slightest grasp on reality, you bring me back to solid ground
I realize the universe's mysteries are too grand to solve, and we are so small and insignificant and temporary
And we might not ever know what else there could be, but somehow, somehow when I look at you, your eyes fixed on mine
It makes me think that maybe this small existence is enough

And I know I tend to idealize things, and I know it wouldn't be that comfortable to live without possessions
But I can feel that alternate versions of ourselves are happy living like that
Alternate versions living in places that do not demand a complex life
Places where you don't have to keep up, you can go at whatever pace you feel like

We're here on a freeway in our society, and we can't get out of the car and take a stroll as much as we want to
I know I've been slacking, but trust me, I'd be far more gone if you weren't here
Thank you
